Shouya, a love novice, comes across a gay teen's blog by chance during his web surfing. To his amazement, he finds out that the writer of the blog is none other than Tsubame Sanjou, a classmate who prefers to be alone. The tale unfolds as a story of experiencing puppy love with two contrasting personalities: a sweet and innocent guy and a troublesome delinquent.
The "mysterious school comedy" centers on the unusual members of a high-school literary club. Touko Amano, a high-school senior who calls herself the "literary girl" as the club president, is actually a supernatural creature (youkai) that devours stories — she tears pages from books to munch on them. Her club subordinate is Konoha Inoue, a second-year high-school boy who writes stories every day for Amano to eat. He once wrote an award-winning novel, but he wrote it under the penname Miu Inoue so readers thought the author was a mysterious 14-year-old bishoujo novelist. The stress from the novel's fame and its movie and television drama plans turned Inoue into an introverted recluse.
Ryuuji's situation is different from that of most high schoolers as he is burdened by both the financial troubles of his family business and the growing tension in his household. As a result, he must pursue part-time work to get by. Thus, when a talent scout invites him to join the cutthroat realm of entertainment, he declines the opportunity. However, the talent scout continues to persist in his pursuit despite Ryuuji's initial refusal.
