In a far-off era, Klaxosaurs - colossal creatures - have brought humanity to the brink of extinction. People have sought refuge in Plantations, colossal fortress cities. Within these cities, children are reared to drive giant FranXX mechas - the sole means of combating the Klaxosaurs - in boy-girl pairs. These kids were bred exclusively to drive FranXX and, as a result, know nothing about the world outside the Plantations, using their skills solely to protect humanity.
