Despite his many attempts, Aono Tsukune fails to be accepted into any high school. Eventually, his luck turns around when his parents find a school that doesn't require test scores. Unfortunately, the school is in the middle of nowhere and is actually an academy for monsters called youkai. Feeling defeated, Tsukune decides to leave, but he meets a beautiful girl named Akashiya Moka, who also happens to be a vampire. Moka bites him, and they become friends. Tsukune looks forward to a happy school life with her, but his happiness is short-lived when he learns that any human found on the school grounds is to be killed.
